A Christmas Carol

Marley is dead. His business partner has treated that fact as efficiently as any other entry in a ledger.

Ebenezer Scrooge keeps his office cold, his clerk colder, and Christmas outside the door. Then Marley comes home in chains. Three more Spirits will follow, carrying Scrooge through the rooms he abandoned, the city he refuses to see, and a future that has already begun arranging his grave. The Cratchits have almost nothing. Scrooge has money. Dickens asks which household is poor.

A ghost story in five staves. The haunting has one night to balance the books.
