Two friends need work. They decide adventure might pay. Tommy and Tuppence have survived the war and run out of money. Their business proposal is cheerfully vague; the people who answer it are dangerously specific. A missing woman, a document carried off the Lusitania, and a name nobody can put a face to pull them into a conspiracy with rather more at stake than their next meal. Tuppence improvises.
